Distinction & Excellence

The originality, differentiation, creativity, innovation, expertise, or category-specific excellence demonstrated by the event.

Your Questions Answered

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Events category recognize?

It recognizes complete events as unified achievements. The jury evaluates the event’s purpose, strategy, execution, audience experience, distinction, and results in relation to the selected subcategory.

Should I enter Events or a specialist category?

Choose Events when you want the complete event evaluated. Choose a specialist category when you want the jury to focus on a specific contribution, such as production, design, marketing, technology, sustainability, accessibility, a venue, an organization, a team, or an individual professional.

Can the same event be submitted to multiple categories?

Yes. An event may be submitted to multiple eligible categories, including both event-type and delivery-format categories. Each category is evaluated independently, and the applicable category fee applies to each submission.

Can a hybrid or virtual event be entered?

Yes. Hybrid Event and Virtual Event are included within Event Formats, Scale & Delivery. The event may also qualify for an event-type category when both aspects warrant separate evaluation.

Can a recurring or ongoing event be entered?

Yes. Recurring and ongoing events may be entered when eligible activity occurred on or after January 1, 2024. The entry should identify the qualifying edition, occurrence, or period that the jury is being asked to evaluate.

What evidence should I include?

Include evidence relevant to the event’s objectives, such as attendance, registrations, audience engagement, participant satisfaction, media coverage, business outcomes, cultural or community value, stakeholder response, or other credible results. The evidence should help the jury understand what the event achieved in relation to its purpose.

What if no published category accurately fits my event?

Select New Category within the most relevant category group. Propose a category name and briefly explain what you want the jury to evaluate. The proposal will be reviewed by the MUSE Event Awards team before judging.
